Within Chase, Card Services consists of Credit Card and Merchant Services.  Credit Card offers a wide variety of general purpose and partner based credit cards to meet the needs of consumers, small businesses and corporate clients.  Merchant Services is the global payment processing, merchant acquiring and marketing solutions business of JPMorgan Chase & Co.


Card Services Controllers organization is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and validity of Card Services’ financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle. The group performs critical reporting and controls functions for the organization, including legal entity, financial and regulatory.  


The Associate Controller position will be part of the Merchant Services Controllers team within Card Services Controllers and will execute product controller functions for Merchant Services.  This position will directly support the Merchant Services Controller and will require frequent, collaborative partnership and communication with functional groups across within Merchant Services.


Key Responsibilities of this Controller Associate position are as follows:

  • Product Controllership – Execute and maintain robust controls and policies compliant with “Audit Ready All the Time” culture, with a focus on continuous improvement:
    • Financial statement preparation, consolidation, reporting and analytics (internal/external/regulatory)
    • Third-party and intercompany partnership accounting, contract review, foreign currency accounting
    • Risk and control self-assessments, standard operating procedures, and User Tool/Model governance
  • Recovery & Resolution – Partner with line of business and corporate program management across functional areas to:
    • Update existing plan narratives, appendices, pro-forma schedules, board presentations
    • Support creation of new submissions to meet regulatory requirements as needed, managing timelines dependencies appropriately
    • Ensure results are in compliance with Resolution reporting requirements and proper governance framework


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required (CPA/MBA preferred)
  • 5+ years Financial Controller experience; credit card industry and/or regulatory experience preferred
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, intellectually curious individual – has the courage to challenge existing processes and offer suggestions for improvements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications
