Legal Department Description
The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation’s lines of business and corporate staff areas.  This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
Office of the General Counsel Description:
The Office of the General Counsel helps attorneys make the best use of their time by providing centralized services and tools to i) develop professional skills, ii) manage projects and achieve business objectives, iii) optimize processes and technology, and iv) engage and connect employees.  The OGC helps the Legal Management Team establish and execute the department’s objectives by driving and supporting initiatives to i) implement firm-wide standards and governance, ii) provide financial discipline and risk controls, iii) guide the people agenda and iv) drive best practices.
Legal Data Practice Group Description:
The OGC is creating an industry-leading data management team that will enable better business intelligence and decisions through data that is accessible, trusted and understood.  This new team will create the data governance program for Legal and partner with Technology and other groups within the OCG to deliver business-friendly solutions to make data-driven decisions.   
Position Description:
The LDP is seeking a Vice President to lead the emerging data program within this new organization. This team will gather and vet ideas for existing and emerging technology-enabled solutions to data-driven business problems.   This will involve partnering with both business stakeholders, technology, and other OGC teams to connect business problems with technology capabilities to provide solutions, as well as managing a portfolio of pilots, PoCs, and project implementations. 
  • Champion the value of data as a strategic business asset by transforming ideas into action
  • Work closely with functional SMEs to identify and prioritize business problems/ use cases for incremental/transformative/disruptive innovation
  • Manage a pipeline of these opportunities. Partner with the Legal Technology and Advancing Legal Capabilities teams to drive identification, evaluation, selection and deployment for the Legal department
  • Partner with internal and external teams to design and run pilots and PoCs
  • Plan and run business hackathons
  • Prepare presentations and materials for stakeholder reviews, project team meetings, and leadership reviews

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA or related graduate level degree preferred
  • Academic or work experience in Legal a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business analysis and/or data management
  • Project management experience a must
  • Experience with and interest in data science concepts (machine learning, AI, conceptual search, NLP, deep learning) a plus
  • Familiarity with graph databases, ontologies, SKOS, a plus
  • Experience with process mapping a plus
  • Proven ability to coordinate across functional teams of business executives, IT professionals, and other key stakeholders towards common goals and objectives
  • Strong relationship-building skills, demonstrated consultative approach and proven skill in influencing others/corporate diplomacy
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying issues and recommending solutions
  • Ability to explain difficult technical concepts to a non-technical audience
