The Chase Home Lending (HL) Default Control Team is responsible for operational risk coverage for the business functions across the Home Lending servicing and default banking division including Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, Claims, and other support functions.  The goal of this team is to consistently identify, assess, validate, drive a strong control environment, satisfactorily complete internal and regulatory reviews, and manage operational risks across Home Lending.  Where controls are not adequate, this team escalates those concerns to senior management, and assists with driving improvements to the overall control environment, operational efficiency, and/or organizational alignment.  Validation of key controls is performed by testing compliance to applicable corporate, state and regulatory guidelines as well as internal policies and procedures.   Key change activities and projects are monitored and consultation provided on control impacts. 
The Operational Control Manager will lead a team of analysts in the implementation of a sustainable operational risk management program through the execution of risk and control self-assessments.  This manager will support the risk program for cross HL Share Services functions, and will develop metrics and scorecards to measure and report on the control environment.  The manager will coordinate assessment activities with other HL teams and Corporate oversight functions including IT Risk, Mortgage Banking Risk Governance, Compliance, and Audit.   The manager will be responsible for designing a comprehensive control testing program to validate the effectiveness of controls, and will ensure assessments are regularly updated.  Team will leverage key risk management systems including the FORCE Risk tracking system.
Candidate must have strong knowledge of Operational and Enterprise Risk Management along with knowledge of Home Lending functions and processes.  Must have strong project management skills and ability to develop business solutions and requirements.  Must have demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with senior and mid-level management to communicate status updates and issues.  Candidate will participate on task forces and special projects, as assigned. 
  • 10+ years in Financial Services with progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • 8+ years Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, and/or Audit experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Experience working with mid and senior-level business management.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to motivate and influence others.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective client and peer relationships. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.  Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to isolate the root cause for control gaps, and able to identify and suggest viable solutions.
  • Able to quickly learn servicing policies, processes and operations to effectively design/improve/perform testing.
  • Excellent data analysis skills leveraging Microsoft Office toolset (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
  • Working knowledge of Home Loan servicing systems is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Industry certifications preferred.
