The Legal Department of JPMorgan Chase & Co is responsible for the provision of legal services to the Corporation and is organized by practice groups that generally align with the Corporation’s lines of business and corporate staff areas.  This structure encourages legal teams and businesses and staff areas to discuss legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.
As an integral part of the Technology, IP and Cyber legal team, which is based in Singapore, the successful candidate will:
  • provide legal advice and counsel on technology law and intellectual property matters;
  • work closely with the Asia Pacific Legal & Compliance teams and the technology organizations to deliver their sourcing needs and achieve technology goals; and
  • to partner with and provide legal support and advice to the Bank's lines of business regarding their Technology, IP and Sourcing needs
In addition, the successful candidate will assist in providing legal support for some data centre matters for Asia Pacific and in respect of offshoring projects regarding the provision of services between affiliates of JPMorgan.  In particular, legal support will include:
  • Reviewing and negotiating documentation;
  • Advising on new product initiatives and devising new processes in conjunction with management;
  • Advising management and other functional partners on legal issues;
  • Liaising with regional colleagues and product and services specialists globally within legal;
  • Advising on various regulatory and legal issues generally; and
  • Instructing and working with outside counsel.
The candidate should possess the following attributes:
  • Risk savvy, self-motivated and self-sufficient and adaptable, with an understanding of IT and IP issues. 
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills.
  • A team player and situation leader to help project manage closure of transactions when required. 
  • Able to communicate well and work in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to identify and escalate issues timely and appropriately
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and respond to business needs and goals
  • Ability to adapt and apply legal skills in new businesses and subjects in which  lawyer may not have expertise
  • A working knowledge of banking regulations, cross boundary transactions, insurance and taxes.
  • Qualified lawyer with at least 7 - 9 years PQE
  • Mandarin language ability will be preferred
