We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with Java/Scala/Hadoop experience to join our Data Engineering Group in Jersey City, NJ. The successful candidate will join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to improving the design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating high quality software and new products.

They will be expected to design components to ingest, curate, report and archive data in our strategic Big Data HDFS platform. They will have to create massively scalable, resilient solutions which have very low operational costs. They will be expected to work with other Big Data engineering teams within the firm to agree and implement best practices. They will need to work closely with data providers and data modelers to understand the data and its business criticality.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
• Write code and set coding standards / best practices within the team.
• Create automated tests for software created and define automated testing best practices within the team.
• Ensure solutions are scalable and resilient.
• Participate in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Incorporate security requirements into design.
• Understand the structures, usage and sources of data.
• Relevant experience working in data centric applications (Big Data or very large RDB).
• Proficiency in Java or Scala
• Experienced in Big Data components (HDFS, HBase, Hive, Kafka, ZooKeeper, Parquet)
