This position is for the in-house conference center
Corporate Meeting Specialist provides meeting planning services and manages events for the in-house conference center and Cafe in Newark and multi-purpose room and event spaces at nearby site.  This role will ensure global standards are maintained along with the highest level of service excellence and operational effectiveness. They will work closely with colleagues across Global Services, Global Multimedia Services, food vendors, suppliers and local lines of business.  The role reports into Planner Manager located in New York.
Job Description:
  • Plan and manage events and operational needs for conference center and cafĂ© event spaces
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are being followed to maintain a high-touch customer service level
  • Work with colleagues in conference centers throughout North America and Europe on multi-point meetings and events
  • Maximize meeting space to allow for multiple uses
  • Work closely with Dining management on oversight of the Cafeterias and food outlets, ensuring all areas are in compliance with applicable policies and regulations
  • May be called on to manage Voice of the Consumer program to obtain customer feedback and  implement plans and actions to enhance service and participation
  • Provide strategic guidance on vendors’ development of menus, programs and concepts that are specific to each sites demographics, LOB and regional preferences
  • Partner in ongoing project management of technology upgrades or renovation of facilities
  • Interact with various levels of senior management and staff, site leaders and in-house partners in technology and facilities
  • Controls - risk and compliance knowledge and adherence
  • 7+ years experience in the hospitality industry managing guests experiences
  • Understand the meeting planning process and white glove customer service approach
  • Working knowledge of space management, food and beverage and audio visual
  • Some experience managing a local and remote team
  • Highly organized; ability to handle multiple tasks and apply judgment to prioritize and make decisions
  • Experience in business process and procedures with strong business writing and presentation skills
  • Analytical and budget planning experience
  • Strategic and risk planning
  • Computer skills, MS Office (excel, word, ppt)
