As a Software Engineering Manager, you will work with business and IT leadership to understand IT business strategy and their implication to application(s) under responsibility. Participate in the software delivery function for the Chase Loyalty Solutions Platform that includes multiple internal facing web applications, middle-ware services supporting external facing mobile/web applications, batch programs and databases.  Develop relationships with business, technology, infrastructure, architecture and enterprise technology teams that participate in the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and ensure coverage of all aspects of application development and delivery.  Manage all aspects of software engineering life cycle concentrated with web service development using Spring/Spring MVC/Spring Boot/Cloud/API Gateway platform. 
Be accountable to Business and Technology Management for end to end application scoping, planning, development, implementation and post-implementation maintenance and support. Lead and manage development and implementation of enhancements/changes; oversee installations and Release Management including the final production acceptance review and sign-off; manage the issue resolution process for any application production problems; and oversee Operations Monitoring and Capacity Management.  Oversee formal performance testing process; help manage the relationship with internal and external services vendors to ensure superior service delivery for all application core technologies;  
Work with software engineers and Business Managers to define and monitor Service Level Agreement's and negotiate appropriate support commitments for existing products; and interact with Ultimate Rewards operation team and business product owners to understand and prioritize demand and suggest enhancements.  Manage individual workload and work of team to deliver to agree upon project milestones; identify/mitigate risks to delivering solution on time; and act as an Agile scrum team leader, providing support and a review point, for Project Managers and software engineers - may be responsible for one or more teams.



This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture, design and business processes
  • Interpret functional specifications, create technical specifications and have the ability to deliver quality code to specification.
  • 12+ years of experience and expertise in one or more general purpose programming languages, including Java/Spring Application & Web framework development (Spring/Spring MVC/Spring Boot/Spring Cloud, Web Services, API Gateway and Cloud).
  • Vendor Integration and Management Experience 
  • Background in Financial industry/banking
  • Expertise in managing conflicting priorities under pressure and ability to influence technology partners without authority.
  • Agile SDLC delivery experience is strongly preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in leading and managing application development teams. 
  • Excellent planning, prioritization and organizational skills
