The Legal Department of J.P. Morgan is seeking a talented, highly motivated individual to join its Private Banking/Wealth Management Legal team in Asia. The individual will focus on supporting the managed products related services provided by the Private Bank/Wealth Management division, as well as advising on regulatory and platform issues. 


The open position would be for a Vice President lawyer based in Hong Kong or Singapore.  




  • Advise senior business management on a wide range of legal, regulatory and transactional issues relevant to the formation, management and distribution of managed products of all types.

  • Assistance with a wide range of support and advice to the Private Banking including advice regarding regulatory issues and the drafting and advice on client documentation.

  • Coordination with local counsel in Asia jurisdictions on legal and regulatory issues concerning cross-border activities and Private Banking business generally 

  • Assisting with legal and regulatory advice and policy/ procedures development for new business initiatives, new products and platform arrangements

  • Working closely with Compliance and Risk functions and the Strategic Program Group  on various risk and regulatory issues

  • Coordination with and assistance to the Legal teams in other parts of JPMorgan (both locally and globally)



  • Qualified lawyer with 6 years or above PQE in a common law jurisdiction (English law qualification preferable) with regulatory experience gained at a top tier law firm and/or other financial institution.  Experience in Asset Management and related areas would be preferred

  • Experience with contentious matters and experience in products would be useful; experience in advising on cross-border related matters would be very helpful

  • Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills with executive presence and sound judgment

  • Experience in transactional workflow and ability to deal with tight deadlines

  • An organized self-starter able to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to communicate well and work in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals

  • Ability to prioritize and respond to business needs
