Global Security and Investigations (GS&I) protects the firm’s employees and assets throughout the world. This responsibility includes the development of security and safety policies and procedures, regulatory and legislative compliance, Security Guard management, alarm response, branch and corporate building security, customer safety, physical crime investigations, workplace violence, fire and life safety, executive protection, due diligence, pre-employment screening, security operations globally, fraud Investigations and cyber security. This mission is executed through the implementation of technology, best in class talent and client collaboration.
This position is with the GS&I Special Investigations Unit and is based in Newport, New Jersey. This position will require occasional travel.
The Investigator will directly report to the GS&I Executive Director for Special Investigations. The Investigator will be responsible for conducting complex and sensitive investigations involving Code of Conduct violations in both North America and Latin America.  The Investigator will coordinate with other senior level bank employees in Legal, Human Resources, Employee Relations, Compliance, and/or Audit throughout the course of any investigation.
This position requires the use of one or more High Security Access (HSA) systems. Users of these systems are subject to enhanced screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks, and/or other enhanced screening at the time of accepting the position and on an annual basis thereafter. The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.
  • This position is responsible for leading investigations specific to internal fraud, insider trading, antitrust, anti-corruption, Sarbanes-Oxley, and employee misconduct allegations. As such, this individual will be required to have an in-depth understanding of fraud investigations specific to these case types.
  • This individual will be required to regularly and professionally interact with senior level bank employees.
  • The individual will be responsible for the thorough investigation of referrals by gathering and researching confidential and sensitive data in the Bank's case management and other proprietary and confidential systems.
  • This individual will document thorough and accurate evidence for multiple case assignments which includes financial profiles, tracing financial transactions, reviewing suspects background and profiles and other key data, as appropriate.
  • The Investigator generally makes decisions independently, but will consult with management on more complex issues.
  • This individual must demonstrate the ability to make independent and appropriate decisions on regulatory reporting in accordance with established bank policy and regulatory requirements and filing SAR's as needed.
  • The Investigator must demonstrate independent decision making and possess the ability to keep GS&I management briefed on investigations.
  • This individual will be able to create well-written internal and external reports to support investigative findings which are supported by facts and documents within the case record.
  • The Investigator will professionally conduct interviews of internal and/or external witnesses and suspects.
  • This person will come in contact with highly sensitive and confidential information and must be able to handle such information appropriately.
  • This individual must demonstrate high levels of integrity and ability to exercise sound judgment.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience working in law, law enforcement, securities, regulatory, or other related fields with a combination of both public and private sector experience, preferably in the Federal, State or County government and the financial sector.
  • Experience conducting complex and diverse investigations involving: internal fraud; misconduct; antitrust; anti-corruption; ethical violations; and, Sarbanes Oxley violations.
People Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills is a requirement. Individual must be a team player.
  • Ability to coordinate, partner with, and gain the trust of team members, key partners and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to articulate sophisticated fact patterns to senior management and memorialize investigations into regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ability to interface with other bank investigators and industry peers in subjects related to fraud intelligence and fraud investigations.
Communication Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Spanish and/or Brazilian Portuguese language skills preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with representatives from various lines of business and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate with law enforcement and intelligence agencies to solicit their assistance in gathering and/or providing related intelligence.
  • Ability to brief executive level management on key issues in a timely fashion.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Criminal Justice, or other related field work, or work experience is required.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Management, Intelligence, or Public Administration is a plus.
  • Juris Doctorate or LLM a plus.
  • CFE, CPA, Series 7, etc., a plus
