Senior Business Management role – EMEA Legal Department
We are looking to recruit a Business Manager to work closely with the General Counsel and the GC’s Management Team in the execution of the Department’s strategic objectives and the efficient day-to-day running of the department in EMEA. In this role, the Business Manager will be required to work independently to drive and implement department objectives, as well as identifying areas for improvement. The Business Manager will need to influence members of the department to achieve these objectives, as well as working closely with other groups (e.g. Finance) instrumental in the business management of the department.
The Business Manager will work closely with the General Counsel’s Office, and will be expected to coordinate with relevant contacts and stakeholders across the globe.
The role is expected to include:
  • Management of Executive Assistants – day to day work allocation, holiday coverage, sick leave coverage, HR liaison, pay, promotion, reviews etc.
  • Monitoring, Tracking and Reporting of progress of Strategic Initiatives (Quarterly Business Review, updates to Management Committee, metrics, etc).
  • Tracking and Reporting on all EMEA Projects, VPGs and Committees.
  • Assistance in Project Management.
  • Leveraging the COO function to support Strategic Initiatives/Projects/VPGs/Committees, etc.
  • Organisation and Space Management.
  • Technology development and roll out.
  • Liaising with Finance function (stream line and refine management reporting of budget, etc).
  • Develop and implement policies/procedures (Gold matter management, Billing, Travel, On-Boarding, etc).
  • Gatekeeper of Legal department Policies and Procedures.
  • Organising Management Team and Department meetings and Agendas.
  • Business Continuity and Resilience Plans.
  • Liaising with Risk Management, Audit and Compliance functions for EMEA Legal for CSAs, reviews, etc.
  • Coordinate EMEA Legal Department wide communications.
  • Maintaining list of open headcount, secondees, mobility opportunities. Tracking and reviewing progress/developments, etc
  • Maintaining log of visitors, and communicating week’s visitors to the Management Team, ensuring space for visitors; ensuring senior visitors are engaged with broader department (e.g. VP/Associates forum events, women’s/network events etc.).
  • Review and track department travel and expenses.
  • Maintain list of external appointments / memberships (industry for a, external committees etc.)
  • Maintaining Yellow Pages, Find My lawyer applications.
