O&C’s primary function is to ensure a sustainable end to end control environment, identify and escalate issues, and ensure control gaps are addressed in a timely manner.
O&C works in partnership with the business in the first line of defence to identify, understand, and manage risks to our business.  O&C assists in the detection, escalation, analysis, and remediation of control-related issues.  In addition, O&C partners with all other control functions – Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Legal.
The role will be part of AM EMEA Oversight & Control Function reporting to the Head of Oversight and Control for AM EMEA and covers Alternative Asset businesses (e.g. Real Assets, Hedge Funds, Private Equity). The successful candidate will possess a strong knowledge and background in controls management, process improvement, issues management, and audit best practices. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Work with the business managers in:
    • Ensuring end-to-end control environment and policy compliance for their respective business area
    • Driving consistency of control standards and programs across regions and LOBs, Regions, Products, Locations, and across Functions
  • As a Control Officer, lead / contribute to the following:
    • End-to-end process reviews
    • Successful completion of business Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA)
    • New Business Initiative Approval reviews (NBIA)
    • Regulatory management including pre-audit testing, pre-regulatory review prep, and post audit action plan review.
    • Implementation of Corporate programs
  • Assist with error remediation, including error documentation
  • Assist with regulatory and audit remediation activities
  • Identify control gaps and make recommendations for improvements
  • Provide guidance and training on controls, controls substantiation, root cause analysis, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • VP within the business, operations, or project organizations
  • 7- 9 years of relevant experience
  • An understanding of Alternative Asset businesses / products is preferable
  • Inquisitive and proactive in identifying risks and proposing solutions
  • High potential individuals looking to broaden business knowledge
  • Exceptional critical thinking, project management, analytical and communication skills (i.e. communicate effectively at all levels of the organization)
  • Possess intellectual curiosity, resourcefulness, excellent analytical and problem solving skills, ability to synthesize large amounts of information and propose recommendations
  • Ability to directly address conflicts and escalate issues where appropriate
  • Demonstrated experience as a key contributing member of a high-performing organization
