The CIB Controls group is responsible for defining and overseeing the global CIB control environment with a key emphasis on ensuring a robust end-to-end risk and control framework is in place with consistent execution across all CIB businesses. In support of the business the CIB Oversight & Control group is directly responsible for:

  • Governance & Oversight: provides administrative support for Business Control Committees

  • Regulatory Management: manages control aspects of Regulatory inquiries & exams 

  • Risk Identification & Assessment: Manages Risk Control Self Assessment program, review and validation of Operational risk events.

  • Policy & Procedure: Supports the implementation of Policies.

  • Ongoing Monitoring: Oversees issues & action plans, operational loss and root cause analysis.

  • Major Control programs: Provides governance, coordination and execution of control projects


The CIB Governance and Initiatives group (G&I) a function within CIB Controls is primarily responsible for the implementation and ongoing oversight of the CIB controls governance framework and the program management of major regulatory and firmwide control programs. 


The role within G&I Group Controls is to provide timely dissemination to the Corporate and Investment Bank of internal audit data from a single, trusted source.  The role works closely with CIB Controls and other internal partners to deliver clear communication of issues and themes arising from the internal audit life cycle, to facilitate with the overall effectiveness of the controls framework.  Responsibilities include:

  • Provision of quantitative and qualitative data and information to ensure stakeholders understand how historical audits and organizational changes may impact and improve the controls framework

  • Communication of the status of the Internal Audit Plan across a broad population including different levels of CIB management and functions (e.g.  Controls, Operational Risk Oversight and Compliance)

  • High level analysis of audit results, identification of common/emerging themes and weaknesses, that inform stakeholders of potential areas for improvement in the controls framework

  • Maintenance of a central, accessible, clean data source that drives data interrogation and flexible reporting

  • Provision of standard, centralised metrics reporting for CIB stakeholders covering the end to end audit life cycle

  • Ability to develop, clearly present and draw conclusions



  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to lead, establish and communicate at all levels

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to convey complex ideas simply.

  • Advanced PowerPoint skills - able to create individual slides and structure presentations with minimal input and need for secondary review

  • Advanced Excel skills to drive efficient reporting and analysis


    Working Style & Influence

  • Must have a collaborative and participative management style. Professionalism, sensitivity, discretion and sound decision-making skills allied with the ability to interact at senior executive level are essential

  • Curious and interested in technology capability that can maximize efficiencies in the process and deliver / open data (appropriately) to user groups



  • Relevant industry experience, ideally coupled with Controls, Compliance or Audit experience.

  • Strong knowledge of and/or experience in wholesale financial services
