Position Summary:

The Suitability program delivers a technology solution to support many regulatory directives and requirements globally. The solution covers many different aspects of the client and trade lifecycle:

  • Capturing data from clients, from multiple channels (online and paper)

  • Algorithmically determining, from the captured data, the clients’ appetite for risk and their understanding of different investment products

  • Calculating the risk the different products clients may invest in

  • Pre-trade checks to ensure all trades made for a client are suitable

  • Post-trade checks to evaluate various aspects of each client’s overall portfolio

  • MIS, enabling reporting to internal compliance and external regulatory bodies

  • This role is for a hands-on developer working on the client profile management platform, which includes data capture and client risk scoring.

  • The group follows an agile development methodology based on the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).


  • Design and implement complex and robust Suitability Platform solutions using enterprise technologies based on Java and related platforms

  • Analysis of requirements in collaboration with analysts and users

  • Creating detailed design documents where appropriate

  • Coding using modern technologies like Java, Spring, ArangoDB, Angular 4 and cloud platforms such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry

  • Perform Unit testing – there is a strong focus on automated testing and continuous delivery pipelines

  • Participating in peer code reviews and involvement in integration testing.

  • Providing support to the development team in resolving the issues encountered in Dev, integration, UAT, production environment.

  • Collaborate with technical groups (development, unit testing, integration testing) and operational groups (Operate, Infrastructure, Release Management) across regions (APAC, EMEA, USA).


Technical Skills:

  • Very strong core Java and OO programming skills

  • Knowledge of  Web Technologies : Java 8/9, Spring, REST services, Angular 4

  • Good database skills, experience in any modern relational platform

  • Experience of Jira and Confluence and modern defect tracking practices

  • Knowledge of continuous build and deployment tools such as maven and Jenkins

  • Experience with Cucumber, Fitnesse or other BDD toolsets


Additional Skills:

  • NoSQL platforms such as ArangoDB which are replacing relational in the system we are building

  • Microservices architectures

  • Cloud platforms such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry

  • Container platforms such as Kubernetes

  • Drools

  • Experience of Agile development lifecycle

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills, having positive approach and team player.

  • Challenge and suggest requirements, enhancements to the platform

  • Good prioritization and time management in a fast paced environment.

  • A proactive approach to problem solving and decision making.

  • Ability to provide solutions to a tight deadline and customer focus mind-set.

  • Passion for learning new product domain, tools and techniques.

  • Ability to work as part of a self-organising team in which you determine your tasks on a daily basis in co-ordination with co-workers.
