The Alternative Investments Group is responsible for the selection and monitoring of alternative asset managers for Global Wealth Management clients. This will include communications with asset managers, internal investment specialists, and clients considering the use of an alternative asset manager within an investment program.  Managers include multiple asset classes across hedge funds, private equity funds, private credit funds, and real estate funds.  The team is global with professionals based in New York, London, Geneva, Hong Kong and Singapore and works closely with the asset class leaders, portfolio construction, investment team leaders and the entire integrated client team in building and maintaining the full product suite.
Alternative Investments Specialist will:
  • Develop and maintain a high level of product knowledge relating to the alternative investment sector, inclusive of private equity, hedge funds and opportunistic real estate
  • Work to support both new and existing alternative products, working with Investors and Bankers as well as directly with clients.  
  • Be responsible for the development and growth of the North Asia client base’s Alternatives business. Work closely with a team of both senior and junior professionals across the region.
  • Help create and ultimately advise clients and prospects on alternative investment portfolio proposals and performance presentation
  • Organize and conduct Alternative Investment roadshows, events, and calls featuring and presenting alternative investment strategies
  • Help present alternative investment training materials used in various programs such as new joiner training, analyst training and other internal training initiatives.
  • Understand client’s investment situation, goals and objectives and work with the integrated team to develop an investment plan for alternative investments.
  • Articulate how the manager selection process functions and how both external and proprietary strategies fit the Global Wealth Management strategy for internal and external audiences.
  • Coordinate the dissemination of alternative investments information through the J.P. Morgan Private Bank network on all client matters.
  • Work closely with partners throughout the Global Alternative Investments Group to ensure strong relationships with asset managers and general communications.
  • Explain to clients and prospects how alternative asset managers fit within a broader investment portfolio while being able to speak broadly across both alternative and traditional asset classes.
  • Partner with legal and compliance partners to navigate the alternative investments regulatory environment.
The attributes of the Alternative Investments Specialist will include:
  • Deep understanding of broad markets and alternative investment products, with around 6-8 years of working experience
  • Quick learner, Strong team player, Strong marketing, communication and analytical skills
  • Strategic planning and execution
  • Presentation and event oversight skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and with a positive attitude
  • Proven experience in investment management sales; experience within a capital markets environment preferred. 
  • The ability to convey knowledge and credibility in front of managers and investors. 
  • Strong public speaking skills will be an advantage.
  • Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin highly desirable.
