The Role:

JPMorgan Chase is currently seeking an outstanding senior Executive Director to lead the Mortgage Modeling team focusing on Asset and Wealth Management (AWM). The person in this role will be a part of the broader AWM modeling team, and will focus exclusively on the AWM mortgage portfolio. The successful candidate will be able to provide analytical leadership while considering the overall business problem, and will be skilled in communicating key model insights to senior management.


The successful candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, creativity, a desire to dig into details, be a proven business partner, and have a track record of delivering results. This individual must also have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex model ideas into clear, concise business intuition. This individual will also be a hands-on modeler who will lead a small team in end-to-end development of the AWM mortgage model used for budgeting, reserving, and stress testing (e.g. CCAR/DFAST, ICAAP).


Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Lead a team to develop best-in-class model for the AWM mortgage portfolio
  • Partner with the AWM business and provide insights derived from the models and modeling exercise to support business strategies
  • Ensure that all relevant risk models are in compliance with regulatory requirements and the Firmwide model risk policy
  • Complete reviews/projects and additional work within specified timescales and in line with departmental standards

The successful candidate will hold the following qualities:

  • An advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Statistics, Economics/Econometrics, Applied Economics, Decision Science, Operations Research, Mathematics (or equivalent quantitative field)
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant modeling and management experience in the mortgage industry
  • Strong track record on (1) providing technical leadership on modeling and analytics themes with a regulatory focus and on (2) project execution and successful delivery of Regulatory Risk models and/or CCAR models
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively summarize critical information in a timely manner
  • Self-starter, proactive solution thinker; takes ownership of and accountability for the business and team
  • Displays a polished and sophisticated style of management
  • Strong decision making skills and personal conviction
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to effectively communicate with, and influence, senior executives of the organization
  • Deep understanding of statistical modeling tools and techniques
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience modeling a high net worth mortgage portfolio
  • Experience in implementing prior mortgage models within a Python environment a plus
  • ED or equivalent in a similar institution to JP Morgan Chase
