This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • Advanced knowledge in the following key areas: Hardware Architecture (performance testing, monitoring, operations), Hardware Benchmarking (Agile, program managements, network management), Design (compliance, security), Network Engineering (planning, provision)
  • Advanced understanding of business technology drivers and their impact on architecture design, performance and monitoring, best practices and JPMC policies
  • Proficient in multiple infrastructure technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, launch and deliver multiple IT projects on time and within budget
  • Ability to articulate to more experienced management a technical strategy in clear, concise, understandable terms

The Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) Technology Data Center team is responsible for executing the firms DC strategy for CIB.  The Data Center team resides in the CIB Infrastructure services group under CIB Tech Production Management.  

The CIB Tech Data Center works closely with Global Technology Infrastructure (GTI) and business aligned application teams. We manage the end to end application migrations from legacy data centers and legacy infrastructure platforms to strategic target states.  CIB Tech follows a proven methodology for managing the application migration from analysis to migration and subsequent decommission of existing infrastructure.

Keys to the success of the Data Center program is strong management of dependencies, documentation of requirements to support the technology roadmap, governance, adherence to internal CIB controls, and acting as a Facilitator between AD and GTI. 

 

Role Responsibilities:

 

As the NA Capacity and Engineering Lead your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide technical expertise, management, and support for the Data Center Execution Team through all phases of program execution
  • Ensure capacity demand is accurately captured with headroom requirements, delivered in the timeframes required for application migrations
  • Provide technical guidance and gather appropriate virtual groups together to create creative solutions to technical challenges
  • ENVIRONMENT GOVERNANCE/OVERSIGHT –Environment capacity oversight ensuring availability for programme. Supporting AD/Operate teams during design and provisioning phases.
  • MIGRATION METHODOLGY AND TECHNICAL STANDARDS – Ensuring adherence to policy standards for Migration (i.e. V2V, re-install (Seed and Swing), Decommission). Partner with GTI to ensure programme awareness of product roadmaps and infrastructure lifecycle standards e.g. backup retention etc.
  • MIGRATION DESIGN AUTHORITY AND GOVERNANCE – Oversight and support for applications during the design stage of the process and managing exceptions as and when they arise i.e. migration methods or platforms that do not meet GTI standards
  • CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT SUPPORT/ESCALATION – Assisting AD/operate teams with escalations for issues experienced during application configuration at the target DC’s
  • MIGRATION EXECUTION OVERSIGHT – support and escalation point for pre/during/post migration execution. Coordination with GTI for resources required during specific migration periods
  • QUALITY ASSURANCE – ensuring each Technical issue is logged along with a RCA performed with key stakeholders and lesson learnt shared

Qualifications required here:

  • Detailed understanding of distributed infrastructure and core datacenter infrastructure principles
  • Experience with Data Centre Migration projects
  • Experience of physical to virtual migration programs
  • Experience of container solutions such as Docker an advantage
  • Proven ability to prioritize and deliver multiple projects in parallel
  • Experience of senior level stakeholder management
  • Experience with IT transformation programs
  • Banking or Financial markets background
