Job Description

The Oversight and Control Group's (O&C) mission is to solidify an effective Firmwide control framework within and across the lines of business by identifying and remediating control issues with a sense of urgency, regardless of the source.  The O&C team will work collaboratively with other control disciplines and will oversee existing control functions as well as the development of new control functions and protocols.  This process will enable the firm to engage the appropriate teams in a timely manner and provide the ability to quickly remediate critical control issues across all the impacted areas of the firm.
The Controls Room, a critical component of the O&C organization, functions as a controls reporting and analytics utility for the Firm.  Its mission is to provide meaningful management information that will facilitate decision making.
The Data Management Associate will serve as a part of the Oversight & Control (O&C) Data Management team, responsible for supporting the onboarding and maintenance of Data related to the  Operation Risk platform and related ecosystem. Role will support the work stream lead to gather, analyze, document, communicate and validate Business and Reporting metadata for all onboarded topics in line with the Basel 239 requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Engage with Business Analyst/ Product Owner, Reporting SPoC, and Data Center of Excellence (CoE) to gather information on Business and Reporting concepts being onboarded, as necessary
  • Review and analyze metadata information received in Standard templates and other documents to ensure they meet minimum Data Management requirements and guidelines
  • Refine Business concepts and reporting labels along with their descriptions and review with stakeholders in line with guidelines and standards
  • Follow-up with various stakeholders on open queries and additional information to close them out within targeted timelines
  • Update Business & Reporting Data Management (BRDM) Database and Business Glossary with all impactful changes based on inputs from SMEs of the application
  • Create Glossary artifacts for BCBS purposes
  • Provide scorecards, metrics, and management reports to stakeholders (e.g. senior management, line management, LOB/Functions) as necessary on the overall status
  • Responsible for creating/maintaining any necessary Data Management reporting
  •  Ensuring accurate and timely escalation and resolution of all inquiries

Minimum education required: 

  • Master’s degree in Business Management/ Finance or bachelor’s degree in Commerce/ Accounts or equivalent.

Minimum experience required:

  • 6-8 years of experience with 2 years of Data Management or related experience.

 

Skills required:

  • Must have analytical skills and attention to detail in written documentation
  • Proactive and able to creatively resolve problems, capable of developing innovative and differentiated solutions.
  • Demonstrated  ability to manage effectively through influence and knowledge
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements, including Basel II/III, Sarbanes Oxley Act, COSO, or similar.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operational risk management practices and controls
  • Demonstrated understanding of Data Management activities.
    • Business definition for data attributes
    • Understand Business terms usage for reporting
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure completeness of Data Artifacts
  • Experience in working on the SharePoint and traceability matrix.
  • Intermediate knowledge on MS office suite.
